Stripe and PostHog together: see which sign-ups actually pay
PostHog knows what people do in your product. Stripe knows who pays and how much. Neither knows what the other knows. So simple questions are hard: which sign-ups became customers? Do paying customers use the feature you think they do? Is that big account quietly going cold?
You can join them by hand:
- Export PostHog persons and Stripe customers, then match them on email.
- Add a column for plan and monthly amount.
- Repeat every week.
It works, but it's always out of date, and email matching breaks when someone pays with a different address or a colleague's card. Worse, nobody owns the spreadsheet, so the questions stop getting asked.
What a useful join gives you, per customer:
- What they pay today and what they've paid over time.
- What they did: signed up, finished setup, used a key feature, invited a teammate.
- A health read: ready for more, or at risk.
- One timeline, from first visit to their latest payment.
How AO does it: connect PostHog with a read-only key and Stripe read-only. AO matches your Stripe products to your products, so each payment lands on the right customer and deal. Revenue › Customers then lists paying accounts only, with what each pays from Stripe, its health and a journey timeline with dates. Sign-ups stay on the Pipeline until they pay.
Pipeline triggers use both: a PostHog sign-up can move a deal to Signed up, and a first Stripe payment to Won.

Questions
Can AO change anything in Stripe?
No. Stripe connects read-only. AO reads who pays and how much. It can't charge, refund or change anything.
Can AO change my PostHog data?
No. It reads your events and never writes to PostHog.
Do I need both?
Stripe alone shows who pays. PostHog alone shows who signs up and how they use your product. Together, they show which sign-ups pay.
