Why replies after hours go cold

  • They are comparing.

Someone looking for help usually writes to more than one firm. The first one to offer a time to talk often gets the call.

  • Interest fades over a weekend.

The problem that felt urgent on Friday evening has a workaround by Monday.

  • A reply is not a meeting.

A thoughtful email still leaves them to find a time. Three times to choose from settles it.

Questions

How is it calculated?

After-hours enquiries a month = enquiries a week × 4.33 × the share that arrive after hours. Engagements you may be losing = that × your win rate × the share you think you lose by replying late. Value at stake = engagements × your average engagement value, and × 12 for a year.
